Man Charged With Intent To Sell Cocaine In Montauk: Cops
The drunk driver had more than 1/8 of an ounce of cocaine, marijuana, and an electronic scale; bail was set at $25K or $50K bond, cops say.

MONTAUK, NY — A Baiting Hollow man was arrested and charged with intent to sell cocaine in Montauk, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Mateusz Z. Pieta, 20, was arrested on Aug. 25 at 1:19 a.m. at Carl Fisher Plaza near Edgemere St. in Montauk.
Pieta was stopped after he passed an East Hampton Town Police car on his left and failed to maintain his lane by crossing over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic, police said. Upon contact, there was the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, he had slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and he was unsteady on his feet; he consented to and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

He was found with packaging material consisting of nine individual plastic baggies, one electronic scale, $265, and a quantity of cocaine to sell — five small plastic bags containing cocaine, with an aggregate weight of over an eighth of an ounce, police said.
Pieta was also found with concentrated cannabis in two smoking device cartridges, which contained a brown substance that later field tested positive for the presence of marijuana, police said. The substance was located "in plain sight" in the Lexus he was driving, police said. He also had a ziplock bag containing a quantity of green, leafy substance that later field tested positive for the presence of marijuana, police said.

He was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, narcotic drug, intent to sell, a felony; and fourth degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, a felony; driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor; seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, aggregate weight of more than 25 grams, a misdemeanor, police said.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond; he was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriffs Department, police said.
