Teens Stole $9K+ Of Fishing Gear From Hamptons Marina: Cops

The teens were released on their own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket after allegedly stealing $9K+ of fishing gear, police say.

MONTAUK, NY — Two teens are facing felony charges after they stole fishing equipment in Montauk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Ryan Vincent Neil, 18, of Islip, and Tyler Eric Mayoka, 17, of East Islip, on July 6, sometime between 10:18 p.m. to 11:06 p.m. at an East Lake Drive address in Montauk, took fishing gear, including three Penn fishing rods outfitted with Penn conventional reels and one custom-made rod labeled "3M&R" outfitted with a Shimano Static 1000 reel from a 32' Boston Whaler center console boat; the items had a combined value of $3,100, police said.

Both were charged with fourth degree grand larceny, value of property greater than $1,000, a felony, police said.

Neil and Mayoka also stole two Shimano Tiagra fishing rods, two Shimano 50 series fishing reels, two Lamiglas fishing rods, two Shimano fishing reels, one Penn spinning rod, and one custom graphite fishing rod from an 18' Wahoo center console boat and a 35' Cabo boat; the items had a combined value of $3,775, police said.

Both were charged with fourth degree grand larceny, value of property greater than $1,000, a felony, police said.

In addition, the two also allegedly stole a Penn warfare 30 series fishing reel, one Avet MXL fishing reel, one Tsunami shield 300 fishing reel, one Daiwa Saltiga fishing reel, one Daiwa 3000 fishing reel, one Simano-Sustain 4000 fishing reel, one Gomexus 15w fishing reel, one Daiwa Saltiga 6'6" fishing rod, one Daiwa Saltiga 8' fishing rod, one custom Lamiglas 8' fishing rod, one Tsumani 7' fishing rod, one custom Lamiglas 7' fishing rod, one Bass Pro Redfish 7'6" fishing rod, and one Penn Conflict 7' fishing rod from a 22' Key West center console boat; the items were valued at $2,863, police said.

Neil and Mayoka were charged with a third count of fourth degree grand larceny, value of property greater than $1,000, a felony, police said.

Both were released on their own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket, police said.
