Woman Seriously Hurt By Drunk Driver In Montauk Hit And Run: Cops

The drunk driver left the scene after hitting the woman on Montauk Highway, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A woman was hit by a drunk driver in Montauk early Saturday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo, a New York City woman, 28, was crossing Montauk Highway a little after midnight when she was hit by Jose. L. Romero-Flores, 33, who kept driving and left the scene.

He was later found, arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene, police said.

The woman, who suffered serious injuries, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Romero-Flores was arraigned; bail was set at $1,500, police said.
