Here are just a few of the ways New York City will celebrate the icons of its Black history this February.

NEW YORK CITY — What would life look like in Brooklyn if not for the leadership of Shirley Chisholm? Who could have made us laugh harder than Eddie Murphy in that Gumbo costume? Where would the nation be today if Harlem hadn't saved Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr?
February is Black History Month, which means it's time to give thanks to all the people who put their stamp on New York City.
Here are just a few ways to do it, in events across the five boroughs:

A Salute To Black Achievements In Television in Manhattan
What: Eddie Murphy, Tiffany Haddish, Richard Pryor, Kerry Washington and Dave Chapelle are just a few of the television stars featured in The Paley Center's tribute to Black trailblazers, which features exhibits, events, and of course, screenings.
Where: 25 W. 52nd St. in Midtown

Black Artstory Month 2020 In Brooklyn
What: Myrtle Avenue businesses will host poetry slams, storytelling events and a series of art installations inspired by the legacy of the journalist and civil rights activist Ida B. Wells, who once called downtown Brooklyn home.

Celebrating Black Voices In The Bronx
What: Black-owned gallery House of Mark West hosts tarot readings, art exhibits and a screening of the short film "Bill & Robert," a story of two men falling in love in 1960s America.
Where: 347 Rider Ave. in The South Bronx
When: Feb. 21 and 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Go Far, Go Together In Queens
What: Queens Public Library celebrates Black History month with a Langston Hughes poetry reading, a freedom quilting bee for kids, and a production of “The Day Harlem Saved Dr. King,” among other events.
Where: Public libraries across Queens

Celebrating Black Trailblazers In Staten Island
What: This series of workshops at the Staten Island Children's Museum puts the focus on women trailblazers such as self-made millionaire Madam CJ Walker, Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and activist Betye Saar.
Where: 1000 Richmond Terrace in Randall Manor
