Bronx Council Member Ritchie Torres Diagnosed With Coronavirus
He and his staff will go under quarantine, officials said.
NEW YORK CITY — Bronx Council Member Ritchie Torres tested positive for novel coronavirus, elected officials announced Tuesday.
Torres and his staff be quarantined for several weeks, the City Council Speaker said.
"As soon as we found out, we held a conference call with members so they could be informed and alert their staffs," said Corey Johnson.

"The Council is also working to find people who have been in contact with Council Member Torres to alert them to his condition in order for them to self-isolate if necessary."
In New York City, at least seven people have died, 644 positive cases have been diagnosed and 4,000 tested, Gov. Cuomo said Tuesday morning. There have been 12 coronavirus-linked deaths in the state.

Torres, a Democrat, represents The Bronx's District 15 and was elected in November 2013.
