Bronx Pilot Killed When Plane Crashes Into Maryland Home: Police
Gordon Allen has been identified as the man killed in an explosive crash in Prince George's Sunday afternoon, Maryland police said.

THE BRONX, NEW YORK — A Bronx man died after his plane crashed into Maryland home and erupted in flames, state police announced Monday.
Gordon Allen, 61, lost his life when his single-engine plane crash landed in New Carrollton about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Maryland State Police said.
Allen took off from College Park Airport minutes before he crashed into the Chesnut Avenue home, police said.

Allen was the only person to die as the single-family house was empty when his plane hit, authorities said.
At least 18 homes lost power in the area as a result of the crash, police said.

“My heart was beating so fast,” Jordy Perla, 7, told the Washington Post after witnessing the crash across the street. “I thought it was about to explode the whole state.”
The Grumman American AA-5A was heading to the Westchester County Airport in White Plains, the Washington Post reported.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
