The New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-NY), the leading organization serving communications and public relations professionals in the New York metropolitan area, will host "Meet The Media: Black History Month Edition" on Wednesday, February 24 from 5pm to 6pm ET on virtual platform Zoom.

Today, about three-quarters of newsroom employees are non-Hispanic white, compared with about two-thirds of all U.S. workers, according to a 2018 analysis from the Pew Research Center. About half of newsroom staff are white men, compared with about a third of the overall workforce. Meet The Media will focus on the Black experience in the media industry, and cover everything from the social justice movement to DEI in Corporate America, and best practices to build relationships with Black reporters and news outlets.

The event will be moderated by Sabrina Browne, Vice President of Marketing at PRSA-NY and an Account Director at BCW, a global communications agency. Browne has nearly a decade of experience counseling clients across the Fortune 500 to engage diverse consumers and stakeholders. In her role, Browne oversees earned media relations, executive visibility and go-to-market campaigns. In 2019, she received PRSA-NY's 15 Under 35 award, which recognizes young PR professionals who are changing the landscape of the industry.
