Christian Siriano NYFW 2019: Ricci, Messing & More Attend—Photos

During New York Fashion Week it's all about the biggest shows, the grandest runway looks, and of course, all the A-list celebrities. Christian Siriano showed his latest collection at 'Top Of The Rock' and even though this sounds fabulous, I knew that was going to be a logistical nightmare. Every show venue that involves elevators is a nightmare. Everybody wants to get in as fast as possible and after the show, out as fast a possible, all at the same time, of course.

But Christian Siriano is worth every effort, no matter what. His front row was packed with stars like Debra Messing, Christina Ricci, Christina Hendricks, Mariska Hargitay, Danielle Brooks and many more.

2:55 p.m.
I arrive at 'Top of the Rock' almost 90 minutes early, just to be prepared for every craziness that might happen, right? And there is already a long line of people. Media, photographers, guests, team, sponsors and a lot of tourists who don't know that 'Top of the Rock' is closed to the public today.

I see a group of top photographers working for the biggest agencies in the world lined up. As long as they are still waiting to get in, I'm not missing anything.

3:21 p.m.
"Media and photographers this way!!!" one of the PR people shouts. This is happening!

4:23 p.m.
Let the games begin!

I see Kelli Giddish and Mariska Hargitay walking in. Mariska has been on 'Law & Order: SVU' since the beginning of time, isn't that right? There is nothing wrong with a steady job when you are an actor, though. The show is in season 20, can you believe it?! And it's still actually really gripping!
It's perfect when you want to space out and watch something for 3,983,998 hours or so without interruption or if you want to break the World Record in binge-watching.

4:24 p.m.
Wow! Debra Messing looks incredible.

4:27 p.m.
Leigh Lezark is everywhere! I've seen her at almost every show.

4:32 p.m.
And then all craziness breaks loose when more and more celebs arrive.

Do you see the guy on the right in the back? He is taking a photo of us taking photos!

4:37 p.m.
Coco Rocha is here, too.

4:44 p.m.
"Hey, how are you doing?" I say to the english photographer.
"Marvelous!" he says with his beautiful sick English accent. "Absolutely marvelous!"
"Marvelous!!!" I chime in just because I haven't heard this wonderful English word in a while.
"Marvelous, marvelous, marvelous!" And we both know that we do not feel marvelous right now.
We are anxious. Before the show, everybody who is working the show is anxious. And that is because a runway show only takes about 8 - 15 minutes and the riser photographers need to get a perfect shot of every look right away. How is the light going to be? Will the models walk perfectly in line? Will I get a good spot to shoot great photos?
And the front row photographers are anxious because there are only a few moments before the show to get all the photos of the guests. Who is on the list? Will they arrive on time? Will I get the shot?

There is no time to make mistakes.

4:48 p.m.
Mariska Hargitay is showing us her bling.

"What's going on with the ring?" I shout over the heads of the photographers, but I don't get an answer.

4:49 p.m.
Look who is here! Look who is also here!
Danielle Brooks and Mariska Hargitay.

4:51 p.m.
And Christina Hendricks and Christina Ricci.

4:52 p.m.
Danielle Brooks is in the best mood today and can't stop dancing for us!

4:53 p.m.
"All photographers to the riser! NOW!!!!" the security shouts. "GO TO THE RISER!!! Or I will kick you out!" and he looks like he wants to add something like: "... you disobedient little photographer animal! Grrrrrhhh!"
I show him my teeth and smile as sweet as possible, then I obey.
Unfortunately, there is no space on the riser left whatsoever. While I was shooting my brains out in the front row, the other photographers took every single spot. Not even a baby bird fits in there anymore. Oh, well.
I walk behind the five rows of standing guests and sit on the floor. I can't see anything anyway. But the music is great!

5:12 p.m.
After the show, all the photographers run backstage.
"No backstage for anybody!" shouts the PR.
"But you promised!" says one of the photographers as if he is the child and the PR is the parent.
"You promised!!!" says another one.
"You proomizzzeeettt!!!" I add with my thick German accent that should scare everybody to their bones but never works in NYC with these tough as a grizzly bear New Yorkers.
"Who are you shooting for?" PR asks the first photographer in line and he answers with the name of a major magazine.
"Ok, one, two, three, you are in." and she counts the first three photographers in line.
And yay, I'm number three for some weird reason.

5:16 p.m.
And as I run inside this perfect group shot is happening!

5:18 p.m.
