Conway: Curaleaf New York’s delivery service provides patients and their caregivers easy access to receiving their medical cannabis products at home.

This is an important service for our many patients who live far from our dispensaries, are very sick, or otherwise have difficulty reaching our facilities.

Patch: Why did Curaleaf decide to launch home delivery programs?

Conway: Our home delivery service will make life significantly more convenient for our patients and their caregivers. And here at Curaleaf New York, patient care remains our number one priority. Providing accessible medicine is an essential component of first-rate care and allows us to ensure patients get the attention they deserve as well as adhere to the medicines they need.

Additionally, New York State’s 40 licensed dispensaries serve an average of 500,000 residents or 1,400 square miles. For reference, that dispensary to patient ratio is more than twice as high as Illinois, nearly three times as high as Michigan, and more than seven times as high as Florida.

As a result, thousands are underserved, and patients and caregivers must travel as far as three hours each way to obtain medicine. Much like access to quality grocery stores and fresh produce, every neighborhood should have easy access to medicine, including medical cannabis.

Though not a full solution, delivery programs like ours help address this critical issue.

Patch: Which dispensaries offer home delivery? What counties does the service cover?

Conway: All four of our dispensaries now offer home delivery. Curaleaf Queens in Forest Hills delivers to patients and caregivers residing in Queens, Kings, and New York Counties. Curaleaf Carle Place on Long Island delivers to patients and caregivers residing in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Curaleaf Hudson Valley in the Town of Newburgh delivers to patients and caregivers residing in Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, Albany-Rensselaer, and Westchester Counties. Curaleaf Plattsburgh in the North Country delivers to patients and caregivers residing in Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Warren, St. Lawrence, and Saratoga Counties.

Patch: Who can participate in these delivery programs?

Conway: Home delivery is available to all Curaleaf New York patients and their caregivers living in the counties served. To become a Curaleaf patient, a free, personalized health consultation with a dedicated pharmacist or dispensary associate is required before dispensing medication. For those who struggle to reach a Curaleaf dispensary, a phone or video conferencing service is available by calling or emailing the closest Curaleaf dispensary.

Patch: How do patients and caregivers go about receiving home delivery?

Conway: To receive their medicine via home delivery, patients or their caregivers place their order with Curaleaf, by phone, at least 48 hours in advance of delivery. CanPay, a cashless payment platform, is the digital debit method used for home deliveries. Staff at our dispensaries are available to walk patients through the CanPay account set-up by phone or in person at our locations.

Patch: How much does the service cost?

Conway: One of our overarching goals is to make medicine more accessible for patients. In addition to physical access by way of our dispensaries and delivery programs, affordability is also a huge component of accessibility. For that reason, all of our delivery programs are currently free, so long as the patient meets the minimum order spend, which varies by dispensary.

Patch: Which medical cannabis products are available for delivery?

Conway: All of our wide-ranging products can be delivered—which is important because different products help relieve different types of ailments for patients.

For example, our Curaleaf tinctures ($50-$55) and oral solutions are the most versatile and customizable forms of medicine for long-lasting effects; our Curaleaf Mint-Flavored Micro-Tablets ($30) are a refreshing form of administration for patients who do not want to vape or cannot swallow capsules or tinctures; our low-concentration Curaleaf Slim Vape Pens ($25) are affordable and provide quick relief with low potency; and our high concentration Curaleaf Vape Cartridges ($55-$65) are best for acute, short-term pain relief and for patients experiencing opioid withdrawal and/or are allergic to coconut oil.

Patch: Who delivers the medicine? And by what means?

Conway: Medicine is delivered via a secured, unmarked vehicle driven by Curaleaf security guards and tracked remotely by additional security personnel. The delivery program is directed from Curaleaf’s manufacturing facility in Ravena, New York and led by the former local Chief of Police to ensure the utmost safety for all.

Patch: What are patients and practitioners saying?

Conway: We’ve gotten tremendous feedback from both patients and practitioners. Here’s just a few testimonials:

“Though Curaleaf is the closest dispensary to my home, it is still forty-five miles away and a two-hour drive roundtrip, which isn’t convenient particularly when you are not feeling well or have unreliable transportation. Curaleaf’s new delivery program will make my life, and the lives of many others, much easier.” --Brad Bourcier, a Curaleaf Plattsburgh patient

“Several of my patients will benefit from home delivery; older patients with chronic pain may not be able to drive or take public transportation, and some patients with PTSD are not able to leave the house due to severe anxiety. Furthermore, some of my patients who live upstate travel over an hour to get to the nearest dispensary. This new program will rid them of that inconvenience.” --Queens Practitioner Barbara Sprague

“As a practitioner near Curaleaf’s Long Island dispensary, my goal is to ensure patients get the care and attention they deserve. This is a great service upgrade for patients well-acquainted with their care plans and those with mobility issues.” --Long Island Practitioner Dr. Nancy Tice
