Off-Duty Secret Service Agent Fatally Shoots Brooklyn Dog

The startled agent shot a Belgian Shepard as her owners walked her in Windsor Terrace late Monday, according to officials and reports.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — An off-duty Secret Service agent fatally shot a dog out for a walk with its owners in Windsor Terrace Monday night, according to officials and reports.

A man and his girlfriend were walking their Belgian Shepard on East Eighth Street and Caton Place about 9:45 p.m. when suddenly the dog barked and the startled agent pulled out his gun and fired, the Daily News reported.

A Secret Service spokesperson said the dog was wearing a leash but unrestrained, aggressive, and alone.

The agent was taken to Lutheran Hospital for medical evaluation, the Daily News reported.

Police declined to comment on the shooting.
