Elements Festival Rocks The Bronx Waterfront

Check out scenes from one of New York City's biggest one-day festivals.

BRONX, NY — Elements Music & Arts Festival took New York City by a storm on Saturday. After the daytime rains finally subsided and those waiting to go through security got soaked before making their way through the blocks-long line to finally enter the venue, it was on.

Contrary to weather forecasts that showed a high chance of thunderstorms for pretty much the entire festival, the pouring rain held off for most of the nighttime festivities, though a huge mud puddle sat right behind the sound tent.

Festival-goers came dressed in costumes, clad in hats adorned with pins, and of course, bass drops, the symbol of festival headliner Bassnectar, who draws unimaginably huge crowds to every one of the festivals and shows he plays.

Some of the festival's biggest acts, including Bassnectar, Emancipator and Desert Dwellers were on the lineup to hit the Earth Stage back to back in an evening of music that would rock the house.

As most festival goers know, Bassnectar brings the headbangers — and Elements was no different. When the clock ticked closer to 9:45 p.m., it seemed almost the entire crowd herded toward the Earth Stage for his set, which sent massive amounts of bass and colorful laser lights into the night.

Bassnectar seemed to be the main draw for many of those at Elements. The iconic bass music DJ will return to New York sooner than many of us thought, planning to play an exclusive show on Tuesday night that has had many in the electronic music community vying for a small number of tickets.

At 7 p.m., the DJ hosted a festival Easter egg hunt for his fans. The lucky few who found an egg with a golden ticket inside will be granted entry.

Sadly for some, it seems the Desert Dwellers set, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Earth Stage, was canceled due to weather-related flight cancellations. The group posted a public apology Saturday night:

All in all, it seemed the "glimpse into the future" festival organizer BangOn!NYC was looking for was in full swing Saturday night.

Interactive installations like the Galactic Greenhouse, a meditative music and art experience created by artists Michael Bianchino, Melissa Pressler and others, brought a futuristic aura to this Bronx festival.
