Gunman On Loose After Deadly Hell's Kitchen Shootout: NYPD

A 31-year-old man who had just been shot jumped in a black SUV, tried to speed away and crashed on a Hell's Kitchen corner, cops said.

NEW YORK CITY — A man was shot dead in the middle of a fight in Hell's Kitchen early Thursday, police said.

The 31-year-old was gunned down on the corner of West 51st Street and 10th Avenue about 1:30 a.m., according to police. The gunman had not been found as of Thursday evening.

Badly wounded, the victim tried to escape by jumping into a black SUV and driving off, but crashed two blocks away on West 50th Street and 11th Avenue, police said.

Medics rushed the man to Mount Sinai Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life.

Cops sent out an alert at 5 a.m. warning New Yorkers to avoid the area as the investigation continued.
