Feces Photo Wins Trash Train Contest For Most Disgusting MTA Pic
And you thought your commute was gross.

NEW YORK CITY — Only in New York can you win a prize for a photo of human feces on a Manhattan 6 train.
Results for the Transport Worker Union 100's "Trash Train" photo contest are in and MTA station cleaner Tania Garcia has won $500 for her unfortunate fecal matter photo, the union announced Tuesday.
“We seriously need more cleaners to help us out with this,” Garcia told amNY.

Her picture won 263 votes, according to the gruesome site.
Garcia's union launched the contest in October in a bid to draw attention to the MTA's cleaning cutbacks.

"Trash Train" received more than 120 submissions of photos that show smeared human excrement, puddles of vomit, mounds of rotting food and even a hypodermic needle.

The MTA slashed 66 car cleaning jobs in 2018, even though the agency logged more than 1,600 reports of soiled cars in the first eight months of 2019, up from just 1,504 in all of 2017, THE CITY reported in September.
Transit President Andy Byford’s said of the contest last month, “This is insulting to our professional cleaners who work hard every day to ensure trains are clean for six million riders."
