Hammer-Wielding Homophobe Throws Rider On Subway Tracks: NYPD

Police are looking for the man swung a hammer at a subway rider in The Bronx then threw him onto the train tracks.

THE BRONX, NY — A crazed straphanger screamed anti-gay slurs, swung a hammer at a fellow rider then threw him onto subway tracks, according to police.

The hammer-wielding homophobe attacked the 21-year-old man at the Tremont Street D train station on Nov. 22 about 1 a.m., police said.

Good Samaritans rushed to help the 21-year-old when the man shoved him onto the northbound tracks, said police.

Medics took the 21-year-old to Saint Barnabas Hospital for treatment to cuts on his head, said police.

Police released a sketch of the hammer attacker Tuesday night and asked anyone with information about the attack to call the NYPD.

The Hate Crime Task Force is investigating, police said.
