Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued As Storms Approach NYC

NEW YORK CITY – A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for New York City as heavy storms approach Monday night.

The National Weather Service said thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to hit after 8 p.m.

The storms are expected to bring up to an inch of rain and strong winds and may cause some flooding, the National Weather Service warned. They should move out of the area before 2 a.m., leaving showers Tuesday morning.

Tonight
A chance of showers before 8pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8pm and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.
