Hicham Aboutaam: Return to the Theater!

Hicham Aboutaam is excited for the return of the theater and ballet. Due to COVID-19, concerts, plays and recitals were cancelled.

Will be good to have performances back

For those who love the theater and the ballet, this has been a very difficult time. The joy and excitement of getting dressed up for a night on the town, going to the theater, and mingling with the energy of many others is something we’ve all missed. Fortunately, opportunities for entertainment in New York are slowly coming back.

The American Ballet Theater has just announced that they will be going on tour soon. Starting in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 1, they will travel through the United States and end their tour in New York City. It will be the first time that they have performed live in New York since October 27, 2019.
The tour performances will take place outdoors on a stage ABT has had designed and custom-built. They plan to have a 20-member company performing a 50-minute show at each location which includes four main dance pieces.

In addition to ballet, there are other performers getting ready to reengage in the New York area. The Kennedy Center will soon be celebrating its 50th Anniversary and the opening weekend will take place in September 2021. As part of the celebration, we will be able to enjoy the Ragamala Dance Company, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ronald K. Brown and his company EVIDENCE, and more.

Of course, should you have the opportunity and the means to enjoy a trip to London, you can also see ballet there. The Royal Ballet has just opened its first post-COVID show with the program “21st Century Choreographers” at the Royal Opera House.

The performing arts are back and helping to create an exciting revival of culture in New York, and around the world. Let’s hope this is an exciting spark of new energy for all of us!
