Hicham Aboutaam: Wonders of Brooklyn
Hicham Aboutaam writes about the joy that is Brooklyn - the Borough of Trees, restaurants, museums and other amazing places.

Whether you’re just visiting the New York area or you’re a local, there are so many fun neighborhoods and activities that you may not have considered. One spot that has really made a transformation, and is booming at the moment, is Brooklyn. It is a joy to see people returning to restaurants, whether for outdoor seating or indoors, and coming back out after a long year of isolation. So grab your map and your sunscreen, and enjoy some of the best spots that Brooklyn has to offer.
One of the great things about Brooklyn is the food. And now, more than ever, many restaurants have created beautiful outdoor dining areas. There is a celebration of cultures at many of these restaurants and an opportunity to try something that you might not have experienced before. For instance, Café Argentino offers Argentinian food and has tango and flamenco nights. Their steak is incredible, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Peaches offers Southern cuisine and has creative outdoor pods for dining, while Tatiana Restaurant will introduce you to Russian food choices.
Once you’ve had your fill, it’s time to explore the Brooklyn Museum. This museum is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. Its roots go back as far as 1823 and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. You can explore ancient art here at the museum, with the collection of Egyptian art and those of so many other cultures. In addition to their permanent collections, there are many exhibits that offer thoughtful displays of artistic expression. Currently there are exhibits from Nick Cave: Truth Be Told and Lorraine O’Gradey: Both/And among others.

Along with the Brooklyn Museum, this area also offers the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Mount Prospect Park and the Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library system. Each of these is worth a trip and a chance to enjoy all that Brooklyn has to offer. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden always has something educational and beautiful to enjoy, and at this time of year there is so much worth seeing in their outdoor space.
Top off the day with some ice cream from one of the many exceptional spots in Brooklyn including Ample Hills Creamery, Taiyaki NYC, or Il Laboratorio Del Gelato and you’ve created a truly special day for yourself and those you love.
