NEW YORK CITY – The remnants of Hurricane Zeta are expected to soak New York City just days after it hits the Gulf Coast Wednesday.

The storm was about 300 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday morning. It's expected to hit somewhere on the coastline between Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle around midday with 75 mph winds, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The weakening storm will then barrel northeast across the U.S., arriving near New York City Thursday evening, meteorologists said.
