ICE Arrests Update: 21 of 41 Arrested In NY Were Cuffed In New York City
ICE has provided new information on the 41 people it said it arrested in New York last week.

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Twenty-one of the 41 people Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it took into custody in New York last week were arrested in New York City, according to new information released by the department. The remaining 20 were arrested in other New York State locations.
In a Monday press release, John Kelly, who heads the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), said that ICE arrested 680 individuals nation-wide during the previous week, adding that those taken into custody "pose a threat to public safety, border security or the integrity of our nation's immigration system."
An ICE spokesperson added that 38 of the 41 people arrested in New York "had criminal convictions."

On Thursday, the Independent Journal Review, a conservative-leaning website based in Arlington, Virginia, published a document providing more detail on the arrests. The authenticity of the document was confirmed to Patch by an ICE spokesperson, who said it had been "provided to several members of Congress in response to a request they sent to ICE."
The document, embedded below, listed 39 arrests in New York as part of the national operation, breaking them down by the "most egregious criminal conviction" those arrested were guilty of. (It was not immediately clear why the document listed 39 arrests, rather than 41.)

Of those offenses listed, the most common was "driving under the influence," of which nine of those arrested were guilty. The second most common offense was "sexual assault carnal abuse," of which four of those arrested were guilty.
The document also listed two individuals arrested for "non-criminal offenses" which were not specified.
