Ice Cream Dreams: New Creameries To Try This Summer

Satisfy your sweet tooth and escape the heat at these New York City ice cream shops.

NEW YORK, NY — We all need to cool down when the weather heats up. Check out these recently opened ice cream shops for some sweet relief this summer.

Ample Hills Creamery Ice Cream Factory
Neighborhood:
Red Hook
Where: Van Brunt Street between Beard and Reed streets
Details: New York City’s largest ice cream factory, museum and retail store opened July 26 in Brooklyn — and you're in for quite a treat. Known for its classic flavors with tasty mix-ins, this location has something Ample Hills’ other outposts don’t: its very own flavor. Try out The Hook, a burnt-sugar ice cream with house-made stroopwafels and chunks of salted fudge — an homage to the Lenape people, Dutch settlers and old sugar refineries of the area.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream
Neighborhood:
Upper East Side
Where: Second Avenue between East 84th and East 85th streets
Details: This creamery churns out classic and vegan options all ice cream lovers will enjoy. Its Upper East Side location opened last week as the newest addition to Van Leeuwen’s empire of 12 New York City shops.

Vegan, oat milk-based options are also available. Free scoops will be distributed to the first 200 visitors at each location.
