Jimmy Kimmel: 1st Amendment As Important As 2nd Amendment

Jimmy Kimmel says it's not too soon to talk about gun control.

Las Vegas native Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night went after the "nuts" attacking people who are saying something needs to be done about gun control in the U.S. following Sunday night's massacre near the Mandalay Bay resort.

"They say it's inappropriate to be talking about it because it's too soon," the late-night host said during his monologue. "Well, maybe it's too soon for them because you know you bear some responsibility for the fact that almost anyone can get any weapon they want; now you want to cover yourself until the storm of outrage passes and you can go back to your dirty business as usual.

"But it's not too soon for us, because we're Americans, and the last time I checked, the First Amendment is at least as important as the Second Amendment. So we're going to talk about it. Shame on you for suggesting we do otherwise." (For more national political news, sign up for the free White House Patch email newsletter.)
