Manhunt Underway For Teen Suspect In Tessa Majors Murder: Reports
The 14-year-old was about to turn himself in to police when he bolted from of a car in Harlem Monday night, according to reports.

NEW YORK CITY —A 14-year-old boy accused of stabbing Barnard freshman Tessa Majors sparked a manhunt when he bolted instead of turning himself in to police, according to reports.
A family member was taking the teen in for questioning when he jumped from a car stopped at a Harlem intersection Monday night, police sources told CBS News.
The 14-year-old is the second of three teenagers police believe attacked Majors, 18, in Morningside Park on the Upper West Side Wednesday night.

A 13-year-old boy arrested Thursday afternoon confessed he participated in Majors's murder as one of a group that tried to rob her, according to reports.
Majors was repeatedly stabbed several near West 116th Street about 7 p.m., according to city officials.

Barnard President Sian Leah Beilock described the killing as an "unthinkable tragedy that has shaken us to our core."
"We mourn this devastating murder of an extraordinary young woman and member of our community," Beilock said.
Majors' father Inman Majors, a novelist and professor at James Madison University, said in a statement, "We lost a very special, very talented, and very well-loved young woman. Tess shone bright in this world, and our hearts will never be the same."
