MTA Delays: Eight Lines Slowed During Rush Hour, Officials Say
Eight subway lines were delayed during rush hour Friday morning, officials said.
NEW YORK CITY — Dirty subway cars and mechanical problems slowed seven subway lines during rush hour, the MTA said.
Straphangers faced delays on the G, J, N, R, W, Z, 2 and 5 trains Friday morning as transit workers rushed to repair problems with signals, doors and dirty cars, the MTA announced.
Southbound N, R and W lines saw delays after the MTA fixed a door problem at Times Square-42nd Street, the MTA said about 9 a.m.

Church Avenue-bound G trains, slowed by an earlier delay in the other direction, and northbound 5 trains, which saw a filthy car removed at Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College, were delayed as of 8:45 a.m., the MTA said.
Northbound R and W trains are delayed about 8:40 a.m. when a door problem jammed up the works at City Hall, officials said.

Southbound 2 trains were delayed about 8:15 as workers hauled away a broken train at Wakefield-241st Street, according to the MTA.
And Broad Street-bound J and Z trains ran on the local track from Myrtle Avenue to Marcy Avenue because of a signal problem near Hewes Street on the express track, officials said about 7:30 a.m.
