Napa County Library Eliminates Late Fines For Kids, Teens
The library is also waiving up to $10 in overdue fines for adults.

From Napa County Library: Late fines for children’s and teen materials at the Napa County Library are no more.
The Napa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to eliminate them; however, patrons will still be charged for lost items. The Board also eliminated processing fees to encourage all residents to bring their library accounts back into good standing.
“Children and teen materials make up more than 40 percent of the library’s circulation,” said Danis Kreimeier, director of Library Services and Community Outreach. “We know children and teens often can’t get to the library to return items, and we want to make sure that our youngest readers have access to all of our great resources.”

The library is also waiving up to $10 in overdue fines for adults, who participate in the Summer Reading Program. Signups begin May 29. Adult fines will now be $.25 a day.
While it will take the library some time to remove old fines from accounts, no new overdue fines will accrue. Patrons can talk to anyone at a service desk to help remove old fines.
