National Night Out Against Crime 2017 In NYC: How To Attend In Your Neighborhood

NEW YORK, NY — Care to meet your local cops? Don't care to meet your local cops, but like free food and music and face-painting and stuff? Whatever your jam, consider stopping by your local leg of the NYPD's citywide "National Night Out Against Crime" street fest this Tuesday, August 1, where you can "take a stand against crime in your neighborhood," "meet members of your local precinct" and "interact with neighbors, community and local business leaders who all have the common goal of neighborhood safety," in the words of the NYPD.

Police promise to provide "games and activities for youth" and "lots of information on ways to get involved in working with the NYPD."

Kind of like your average NYC block party, only a little nerdier and more civic-minded. If you're lucky, one of your local community officers might even dance the Whip/Nae Nae with neighborhood kids, to viral effect.
