New NYC Beach Bus Only Costs $1 To Ride

NEW YORK, NY — Now here's a promo drive we can get behind. In hopes of standing out from all the other ride-sharing apps currently trying to win the hearts of New Yorkers, a new bus-share company called Skedaddle is offering $1 round trips to a handful of different beaches near NYC every Saturday this summer.

As long as at least 10 people sign up per trip, the 54-seat buses will depart each Saturday at 8 a.m. — a little early, but again, uh, $1 — from varying pick-up spots in NYC, then shuttle you to one of seven beaches outside city limits. (As opposed to the more obvious beaches in the Rockaways, which are already pretty cheaply and easily accessible via the subway, for $5.50 per round trip, and the NYC Beach Bus, for $17 per round trip.)

Buses will then pick you up at the beach at 3 p.m. and shuttle you back.

Skedaddle's weekend destinations this summer will include Point Pleasant Beach, Long Branch Beach and Sandy Hook Beach in New Jersey and Long Beach, Fire Island's Robert Moses Beach, Atlantic Beach and Jones Beach on Long Island. (Click a beach's hyperlink to see it on Google Maps.)
