Bowl and Blade
Where: 169 5th Ave., Park Slope
What it’s about: The many-Michelin-winning Junoon chef Akshay Bhardwaj is only 24 years old, but he already runs two major restaurants. He began running the sleek Indian joint Junoon without a hitch in 2016 after apprenticing there under its original chef. Now, just two years later, the Indian-focused chef has opened Bowl and Blade in Park Slope expanding into Korean-inspired food. Customizable poke bowls and Korean barbeque are the staples of this eclectic menu. If your date likes options and the ability to customize-- plus a good story about a young, thriving entrepreneur – head to this cultural crossroad.
ATOMIX
Where: 104 E 30th St., NoMad
What it’s about: “Ato” is rooted in the ancient Korean word for “gift”-- something that these chefs have inside them. Run by a married couple, ATOMIX is bound to be a success following in the footsteps of its immensely popular sister restaurant, Atoboy. For a more elegant experience of all your favorite Korean street food flavors, take your date to the Michelin-starred chef’s sleek new place in NoMad. The three-course prix fixe menu will take stress out of ordering, too.
