New Yorkers are more burdened by taxes than residents of any other state, a new 24/7 Wall Street analysis shows.
NEW YORK — Sure, taxes make it possible to prevent bridges from crumbling underneath us and hospitals are also a fun thing to have, but no one's going to blame you for a grumble on Tax Day.
Especially if you live in the Empire State.
New York residents are the most tax burdened Americans in the nation, according to recent analysis from finance website 24/7 Wall Street.

While the average American will pay a little less than 10 percent of her estimated annual income in taxes by April 5, New Yorkers will shell out almost 14 percent, analysts found.
New York ranked highest for income tax collection at $2,877 per person, but the income rate per person, roughly $65,600, is only third highest of the 50 states.

Connecticut ranked first for income at $73,213 per person, but residents only pay 10.6 percent of that income in taxes, the study found.
The state's property taxes are the fourth highest in the nation at about $2,900 per person and general sales taxes are seventh highest at $1,551 per person, the analysis found.
To determine New York's overall ranking, 24/7 Wall St. examined the average income per person and the percentage of taxes they pay in comparison to their income in every state.
New Yorkers who don't like the way the numbers crunch might consider moving to Alaska, Tennessee or Florida, three states found to have the lowest tax burden.
