Newark Sues NYC For Shipping Homeless Families To NJ: Report
New York City is accused of abandoning homeless New Yorkers in uninhabitable Newark homes and ignoring their calls for help, reports show.

NEW YORK CITY — Newark officials filed suit against Mayor Bill de Blasio to stop a program that sends homeless New York City families to New Jersey, according to reports.
The New Jersey federal court lawsuit accuses New York of dumping about 1,000 vulnerable New Yorkers in inhumane Newark homes through SOTA, the city's special one-time assistance program, the New York Post reported.
"Newark has become aware of families, including those with infants, that are living in uninhabitable conditions," the suit reads. “From the small sample of SOTA recipients that Newark was able to identify, Newark has become aware of families, including those with infants, that are living in uninhabitable conditions.”

On NY1’s “Inside City Hall,” Mayor de Blasio replied to a question about the suit saying, "I thought we were trying to work toward common sense solutions."
