All NYC Playgrounds Closed After Coronavirus Distancing Ignored
Gov. Cuomo closed all New York playgrounds by executive order Wednesday.

NEW YORK CITY — All New York City playgrounds were ordered closed by Gov. Cuomo Wednesday after city dwellers continued to flout social distancing rules.
"No violation of social distancing, period, " Cuomo said. "That's the rule."

The closure will not affect public parks or larger outdoor gathering spaces, Cuomo said.
The city on Tuesday took away playground privileges for 10 play areas, according to a mayor's office spokesperson.

City officials have grappled with crowds in parks, most prominently Prospect Park, showing an apparent lack of concern for social distancing.
Cuomo repeatedly called it a public health issue.
