NYC Summer Youth Employment Program Now Accepting Applications For 2017

Tens of thousands of summer jobs are available for New Yorkers between the ages of 14 and 24.

NEW YORK, NY — Know a teen or early 20-something in search of a summer job? Tens of thousands of jobs in a huge array of work sectors are up for grabs again in 2017 through the city's Summer Youth Employment Program, the city announced Monday.

The program's application window is opening earlier than ever this year, on Monday, Feb. 6. Applications will be accepted through Friday, March 17, and the jobs themselves will last from July 5 through Aug. 19.

Anyone between the ages of 14 and 24 can apply here.

Worksites include "government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, nonprofits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports enterprises and retail," according to the city's Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), which oversees the Summer Youth Employment Program.

The program is the largest initiative of its kind in the nation, according to city officials. In summer 2016, "a record 60,113 participants were employed at more than 10,000 worksites," the Mayor's Office said Monday — and the city is looking to employ even more young people this year.
