NYC Weather: Expect Snowy Commutes And Gridlocked Traffic

New Yorkers should expect gridlocked traffic and delayed trains because of two inches of snow expected to fall Wednesday, officials said.

NEW YORK CITY — The wet and slippery snow could will make for messy roads, gridlocked traffic and slowed commutes, forecasters and city officials said.

National Weather Service forecasters predict up to two inches of snow could fall on New York City Wednesday, one of the busiest traffic days of the year, according to the the Department of Transportation.

“You could face messy road conditions during your morning commute," said NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Deanne Criswell.

“I encourage New Yorkers to allow for extra travel time and exercise caution during their commutes.”

Criswell also urged commuters to opt for public transit over cars, calling it "the best way to get around."

Straphangers will face delays on the 7 train — slowed for incoming snow — as well as the B, C,D, and N trains, according to the MTA.

As for buses, the MTA reported delays on the Q64, Q111, Q113 limited, Q114, Q58, Q58 limited, Q88, B4, Q7, Q65, BxM 1, BxM 3, BxM 11 and various Staten Island lines.

The snow expected to taper off about 11 a.m. and Wednesday night should be mostly clear, forecasters said.

Thursday is predicted to be sunny with a high near 37 degrees.
