NYC Weather Forecast: More 70-Degree Heat, 'Severe' Thunderstorms Possible This Week

We're in for another week of freaky winter weather in NYC, forecasters say.

NEW YORK, NY — And you thought last week's weather was freaky. The final days of February and the first few days of March promise to be just as all-over-the-place as we've come to expect from Winter 2017, with temperatures fluctuating between freezing and the 70-degree mark and warm rains that could turn to "severe thunderstorms" midweek.

The first chance for rain comes between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature Tuesday should be around 59 degrees, forecasters said.

Temps should heat up to 70 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.

The weather service has also issued a "hazardous weather outlook" for Wednesday, in preparation for a storm system currently threatening the East Coast.

"There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening," the outlook said. "The main threat is from damaging winds."

The next day should be significantly cooler (and less wet). Thursday is expected to be "breezy" and "mostly sunny, with a high near 50," forecasters said.

Incredibly, Friday's high temp is predicted to be nearly half that of Wednesday: 38 degrees, with a chance of rain after noon, according to the weather service.
