NYC Weather: Hazardous Storm Slams City
New York City could see flooding, power outages and felled trees as a massive storm hits the five boroughs Monday, forecasters said.

NEW YORK CITY — A massive storm will pound New York City Monday afternoon with heavy rain and speedy gales that could cause flooding and power outages across the five boroughs, forecasters warned.
The National Weather Service issued multiple hazardous weather alerts for New York City which stay in effect until 6 p.m.
Winds could gust up to 65 mph — fast enough to knock down trees and power lines — and flooding could occur on the Manhattan and Bronx shorelines after an inch of rain fell on the city the night before.

"People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches," forecasters wrote. "If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows."
Monday's storm is expected to taper out late Monday night and Tuesday should be sunny with highs near 56 degrees, forecasts show. The rest of the week will see a spattering of rain.
