NYC Weather: Rain Continues After Weekend Of Downpours

NEW YORK, NY — Rain continues after a Mother's Day weekend of downpours, the National Weather Service said.

The weather service said rain is expected Monday, with a 100% chance of precipitation.

The rainy start to the week comes after a rainy weekend. Sunday, the weather service recorded the the coldest May 12th since 1963 at JFK Airport, at 43 degrees. A record rainfall for the day was also set Sunday at 1.07 inches — which beat the 1 inch record from 2006, per the weather service.

Rain continues Monday, with a chance of showers throughout much of the week. Expect a mostly sunny day by Wednesday.

Here's the full forecast for the week, according to the weather service.

Monday: Rain after 8 a.m., which could be heavy at times. High near 49. Winds 11 to 16 miles per hour. 100% chance of precipitation. Half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Monday night: Rain before midnight, then a chance of showers mostly between midnight and 2 a.m. Temperatures about 46. Winds 10 to 16 miles per hour, with 28 miles per hour gusts. 80% chance of precipitation. Precipitation between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch is possible.

Tuesday: 40% chance of showers after 8 a.m. Cloudy with a high near 52. Winds about 8 miles per hour.

Tuesday night: 30% chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy with a low about 44. Northwest winds 7 to 10 miles per hour.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 64. Winds 9 to 13 miles per hour.

Wednesday night: 40% chance of showers after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a low about 54.

Thursday: 30% chance of showers before 10 a.m. Partly sunny with a high near 68.

Thursday night: 30% chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny with a high near 66.
