NYC Weather: Storms Slam City With Rain And Snow This Week

NEW YORK CITY — More than an inch of rain could pound the city pavements Monday at the onset of a wet, snowy, cloudy week, forecasters predict.

New York City could get up to three quarters of an inch of rain with winds gusting as high as 29 mph Monday, according to National Weather Service predictions.

Downpours will continue into Monday night with 32-mph winds and another half inch of rain possible before 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, said forecasters.

Tuesday will also see smatterings of rain throughout the day accompanied by warmish weather of up to 61 degrees, according to NWS predictions.

But temperatures will likely drop Tuesday night as a storm brings in a possible three inches of snow on Wednesday, forecasts show.

Here's what else NWS forecasters predict for this wet and windy week ahead:

Monday
Rain. High near 55. South wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday Night
Rain before midnight, then a chance of showers, mainly between midnight and 4am. Temperature rising to around 61 by midnight. Southwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday
A chance of showers before 1pm, then rain between 1pm and 5pm, then showers likely after 5pm. Temperature rising to near 61 by 9am, then falling to around 55 during the remainder of the day. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night
Rain before 4am, then rain and snow. Low around 35. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday
Snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 35 by noon. North wind 7 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
