NYPD Cop Shot, 16-Year-Old Boy Arrested: Police
A manhunt is underway for two more suspects in The Bronx shooting early Tuesday that left a cop injured, police said.

NEW YORK CITY ? A 16-year-old boy was arrested after a Bronx shootout that left an NYPD officer with a gunshot wound to his arm Tuesday, police said.
Cops returned fire after at least gunman fired six shots at their unmarked car along Prospect Avenue and East 183rd Street, authorities said.
After a brief chase, cops arrested the teen, police said. Two more suspected gunmen are on the loose and a manhunt is underway, authorities said.

Mayor Eric Adams, who visited the wounded officer at St. Barnabas Hospital, said the shooting highlighted a wider problem with gun violence.
"It clearly emphasizes too many young people have too guns in their hands," Adams said.

The shooting unfolded about 3 a.m. as two officers assigned to a public safety team saw two young men near a street corner that has been plagued by gang activity, said James Essig, the NYPD's chief of detectives.
"As they pull up, at least one male fires six times, striking the windshield and our officer, who was seated in the passenger seat,? he said.
The cop's gunshot wound was to his left arm, and narrowly missed his "vital structures," said NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell.
But the gunshot wound didn't immediately stop the officer, Essig said.
"Both officers exited the vehicle, both officers return fire,? he said.
Shortly afterward, a second shooting unfolded along 183rd Street, Essig said. Video shows that second shooting was not aimed at cops, but likely toward the first shooter, he said.
The wounded cop's partner stopped their chase and took the officer to the hospital, authorities said. A second group of cops arrested the teen, police said.
The two shooting suspects were described as male wearing all black and another male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
