Presidents' Day 2021: What's Open And Closed In NYC
The holiday honors President George Washington.

NEW YORK CITY — It's another three-day weekend – this time to honor George Washington.
The official holiday falls on Monday, Feb. 15 and it means government buildings, libraries and post offices will be closed and public transit service will be scaled back.
Feb. 15 also marks the beginning of midwinter recess, the week-long break when all New York City public schools close.

Government Buildings
- New York City public schools will be closed for midwinter recess from Feb. 15 to 19.
- City, state and federal government buildings, including post offices, will be closed.
- Mail will not be delivered.
- Many banks will likely be closed as Monday is a U.S. Federal Reserve holiday.
- Libraries will be closed.
Transportation
- New York City subways and buses will run on a Saturday schedule.
Parking
- Alternate-side parking rules will be suspended.
Trash pickup
- Trash, recycling and organics pickup will not occur on Monday, Feb. 15.
- If Monday is your normal trash or organics pickup day, put your materials out after 4 p.m. Monday.
