Ranking the Top 7 Hospitals in New York City
U.S. News and World Report released their annual rankings of the best hospitals in the country and New York City did quite well.
NEW YORK, NY — If you're in the often-unenviable position of needing a hospital, at least you know you're in a good place to find one.
U.S. News and World Report released their annual rankings of the best hospitals in the country and New York City did quite well.
The report ranked 504 regional hospitals in the country, and the results showed the New York metro area had the greatest concentration of hospitals in the country. A full 28 were in the New York City region, though only seven of those were within the five boroughs:

- New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, Manhattan
- NYU Langone Medical Center, Manhattan
- Mount Sinai Hospital, Manhattan
- Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx
- Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan
- Beth Israel Medical Center, Manhattan
- St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Manhattan
Hospital for Special Surgery didn't crack the national rankings overall, but they were ranked No. 1 overall in orthopedics and No. 2 overall in rheumatology. They were also categorized as "high performing" in hip replacement and knee replacement.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center also didn't make the top 504, but they were the No. 2 overall hospital in the nation in cancer care and also No. 2 overall in gynecology. Their pediatric cancer unit was ranked No. 14 in the country.

New York Eye and Ear Infirmary cracked the national rankings in ophthalmology, where they were No. 1o overall.
A host of other city hospitals were singled out as "high performing" in at least one category: Bellevue Hospital Center, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Brooklyn Hospital Center, Coney Island Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital Center, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Jacobi Medical Center, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Kings County Hospital Center, Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Lutheran Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, New York Community Hospital, New York Hospital Queens, New York Methodist Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital, SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Hospital, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
