Scandal-Hit Andrew Cuomo Highest Paid Governor In US: Forbes

The salary didn't include a multi-billion book deal.

NEW YORK CITY – Scandal-scarred Andrew Cuomo was the nation's highest paid governor last year, taking home an annual salary of $225,000 which doesn't include a multi-million dollar book deal, according to a Forbes report.

The Democrat earned the wage while dealing with the coronavirus pandemic which hit New York City harder than anywhere else in the nation.

But he has also been mired in scandals that have seen calls for his removal from many influential figures, including Majority Leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer.

Cuomo is facing accusations of both making unwanted advances to women and covering up coronavirus-related nursing-home deaths.

Cuomo was paid an additional $4 million for his book, "American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic," describing how he led New York State through the height of the coronavirus.

But New York Attorney General Letitia James has launched an investigation into allegations that he directed his publicly-paid staff to help write it.

The next highest paid governor in the country is California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom who takes home $202,000 in 2020, Forbes reported.
