Stabbings Claim 3 Lives On Memorial Day Weekend, NYPD Says

Three people were fatally stabbed in New York City the Sunday before Memorial Day, according to police.

NEW YORK CITY — Three New Yorkers died from stabbings the Sunday before Memorial Day, according to police.

Deidre Borders, 56, was found dead in the bedroom of her Staten Island home on Osgood Avenue near Van Duzer Street about 11:45 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Borders, who had been repeatedly stabbed, was pronounced dead at the scene, said police.

Hours later, a 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the neck, back and stomach near Blake Avenue and Milford Street in East New York about 6:45 p.m., police said.

Emergency responders rushed the man to Brookdale Hospital but doctors could not save his life, the NYPD said.

Finally, a 37-year-old man was stabbed to death on 195th Street and Marion Avenue in The Bronx just before 10 p.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD.

Medics took the injured man to St. Barnabas Hospital where he later died, police said.

Police took a 29-year-old man into custody but had not charged him as of Monday morning.
