Stormy Weather, 'Heavy Rain' Headed To NYC

NEW YORK CITY — Storm clouds and heavy rain are on Thursday's horizon, New York City.

The city is under a hazardous weather outlook thanks to a line of storms bearing down, according to the National Weather Service.

Besides the rolling threat of on-and-off storms through the day, "heavy rain" could drench the city Thursday evening, the forecast predicts.

"New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible," the forecast states.

Stormy weather could continue into Friday, the forecast warns. But there are sunny days ahead — Saturday and Sunday are expected to be mostly clear with highs reaching 89 degrees.

Showers and thunderstorms before 2pm, then a chance of showers between 2pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. High near 73. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 65. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 76. South wind around 10 mph.
