These Are NYC's Noisiest Places

Here's where noisy house parties drive their neighbors nuts.

NEW YORK CITY — If New Yorkers like anything more than a big, noisy party, it's complaining about the big noisy party driving us nuts next door.

A PropertyClub analysis of 311 noise complaints logged between January 2019 and February 2020 shows the outer boroughs are where to go for aggravating sounds.

Brooklyn was the loudest borough with almost 74,000 noise complaints, but also possibly the most fun as 47,286 of those were party music-related, the analysis shows.

Brooklynites are also prone to excessive pounding, a sound residents complained about 19,779 times, the study shows.

Manhattan came in third after The Bronx for noisiness with nearly 57,000 noise complaints and Queens fourth with more than 55,000.

Yet on street level, Queens took the prize for noisy blocks.

The noisiest New York City streets to live on are Eighth Street in Astoria with 2,638 complaints, Madison Street in Glendale with 2,271 complaints and Ninth Street in Long Island City with 2,186 noise complaints, the analysis shows.
