These NYC Hospitals Among The Nation's Top 20: U.S. News
See which New York City hospitals ranked among the best in the state and nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

NEW YORK CITY — A trio of New York City hospitals are among the top 20 in the country, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report released Tuesday.
NYU Langone Hospitals grabbed the third-best spot in the publication's "Honor Roll," an aptly named list that recognizes hospitals nationwide that excel across multiple areas of care.
And NYU Langone wasn't the only Big Apple-based system on the top 20 list: New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell grabbed the seventh slot, while Mount Sinai Hospital scored 16th, according to the list.

The 2022-2023 "Best Hospitals" ranking is designed to give patients and their families a solid, objective picture of what hospital provide the best care for the most serious or complicated medical issues, according to its methodology.
"For families facing a serious or complex medical problem, finding the right hospital is daunting but critical," it states.

By that reasoning, NYU Langone's all-around excellence is only outmatched by two facilities in the country: Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota — which won the number one spot for the seventh straight year — and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at number two, the ranking shows.
New York City hospitals also performed well statewide. They were ranked:
No. 1: NYU Langone Hospitals
No. 2: New York-Presbyterian Hospital
No. 3: Mount Sinai Hospital
No. 4: Lenox Hill Hospital
No. 7: Montefiore Medical Center
No. 10: New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
No. 13: Mount Sinai Morningside
No. 17: Mount Sinai Beth Israel
No. 22: Staten Island University Hospital
No. 25: New York-Presbyterian Queens
No. 29: Maimonides Medical Center
U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals in 15 specialties and 19 procedures and conditions, as well as added rankings for ovarian cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery and uterine cancer surgery to its 2022 list.
Of the hospitals evaluated, 164 earned top 50 rankings in at least one of the specialty care categories, and nearly 500 were recognized as Best Regional Hospitals, based on their strong performance in multiple areas of care.
The 2022-23 rankings also took into account several health equity measures for the first time, noting hospitals which provide more care to low income patients and those which have racial disparities in medical and surgical outcomes.
Among notable specialties, NYU Langone Hospitals is the top hospital in neurology and neurosurgery.
