Things To Do On Christmas In NYC If You Don't Celebrate

See a Broadway show about a dead drug lord or eat a Republican poke bowl. There are so many non-Christmas things to do.

NEW YORK CITY — Christmas is not your thing! That's great. No pretending to love the bag of cat food Grandpa gave you because his mind is going. Or downing too much nog and crying on your Christmas sweater because it's just such a special day.

No, instead you'll be out doing cool New York things because it's the city that never sleeps, no matter the holiday.

Most Broadway shows will run on Christmas, but there may be some cast changes. According to Broadway.com, there are still tickets available a play called "Our Dear Dead Drug Lord" because nothing says "I don't care about Christmas" like seeing a play about a dear, dead drug lord.

Ice Skating Rinks

Wollman Rinks in Central Park, the Rink at Rockefeller Center, the lakeside LeFrak Center in Prospect Park will all be open if you want to glide your way through a holiday sure to send at least one of your friends back to therapy.

Movies

Movie theaters will remain open in New York City and some have got rather intriguing non-holiday specials. Nitehawk is showing "Bombshells" with a "non-liberal" menu because apparently tuna poke bowls are Republicans? Who knew? And Metrograph is screening "Midnight Family," about a Mexican ambulance service, because you have no interest in The Muppet Christmas Carol whatsoever.

Museums

Be that culture vulture. The Jewish Museum and the Museum at Eldridge Street, a Jewish heritage museum housed in a historic 19th-century synagogue, will both be open. And while it's not technically a museum, Ripley's Believe It Or Not will be giving the usual tours of all its weird stuff.

Eat

Here are just a few restaurants open Christmas Day, although you could also stick to tradition and order in Chinese.
