The Tina Turner Musical In NYC: Tickets Available

NEW YORK, NY — "Tina: The Tina Turner Musical" has arrived on Broadway just in time for the holiday season. The thrilling musical hit will be in residence at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre with performances Tuesday through Sunday, and tickets are now on sale.

"Tina" follows the music icon from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, through her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner, to her comeback as the unequivocal queen of rock 'n' roll. The play brings to life the previously untold story of a woman who rewrote the rules and defied the expectations of age, gender and race.

Tina Turner has won 12 Grammy Awards and sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer in music history. "Tina" features the star's favorite songs as performed by Tony Award–nominee Adrienne Warren. (Note that for Wednesday shows and Saturday matinées, Turner will be played by Nkeki Obi-Melekwe.) And it isn't Warren's first time playing Turner — she portrayed the star in the hit West End production in 2018.

Warren reprises her role in a new Broadway series held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The iconic building on 46th Street in the heart of Broadway was designed by architecture firm Carrere and Hastings in 1910.

After a decade hosting dramatic plays, the venue has been putting on musicals since the 1920s.

"Tina" honors the venue's Broadway legacy with direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony van Laast. The show will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne through February 2020, when it will open in the Beatrix Theatre in the Netherlands.

The show runs Tuesday through Friday at 8 p.m., with two showings on Saturday and a Sunday matinée.
