Tropical Storm Elsa: Here's What NYC Can Expect
New York City is in the path of Tropical Storm Elsa, the season's first major storm.

NEW YORK CITY — Tropical Storm Elsa's path could take it — and its wind and rain — to New York City, forecasters warn.
Projections show the storm's center moving past the city Friday between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to the National Hurricane Center.
But the storm's effects likely will be felt earlier and farther from its center.

The storm, which briefly reached hurricane strength Tuesday night, weakened as it approached landfall, which happened in western Florida Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
It could still be classed as a tropical storm as it arrives near New York City sometime Thursday evening or Friday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The city will already have had a soggy week by the time the storm arrives. A chance of rain is in the forecast from Wednesday till Saturday.
