Trump?s $110K Contempt Fine Upheld By NY Appellate Judges
?Once again, the courts have ruled that Donald Trump is not above the law,? said AG Letitia James after judges upheld the fine Tuesday.

NEW YORK CITY ? Former President Donald Trump lost his appeal to void $110,000 contempt fine he paid amid a high-profile probe into his financial dealings.
New York appellate judges Tuesday upheld a ruling that Trump pay a $10,000-a-day fine for refusing to cooperate with subpoenas from state Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump had paid the fine, but filed an appeal that sought to have it wiped clean. The judges? decision that shot down the appeal is just one more defeat for Trump in his legal tug-of-war with James.

?Once again, the courts have ruled that Donald Trump is not above the law,? James said in a statement.
?For years, he tried to stall and thwart our lawful investigation into his financial dealings, but today?s decision sends a clear message that there are consequences for abusing the legal system.?

Trump had not made a comment on his Truth Social account as of publication.
The probe by James? office eventually led her to sue Trump, three of his adult children and the Trump Organization in September 2022.
James argued that Trump and his family engaged in an ?astounding? decade-long pattern of fraud and deception to enrich themselves.
"Claiming money that you do not have does not amount to the 'art of the deal,'" she said at the time. "It's the art of the steal."
For his part, Trump has argued the case is a ?witch hunt? and appears poised to take it to trial.
The contempt fine arose in April 2022 during one of many legal fights before James? ultimate decision to sue. James argued ? and a judge agreed ? that Trump had failed to properly comply with subpoenas.
