The gunman — 27-year-old Richard Richard — ducked for cover behind a storage bin on the platform as Rodriguez squeezed off ten shots and ran back toward the stairwell, according to NYPD Det. Martin Brownlee.
Meanwhile, 47th Precinct police officer Lauren Southwell ran up the steps onto the opposite platform.
"Shots fired over here," she tells a dispatcher. The next sound is a gunshot.
The cops then nabbed Richard, who had a gunshot wound in his left shoulder, and took him to Jacobi Hospital for treatment, said police.
A Bersa 380-caliber gun and a single round was found on the platform, police said.
Richard pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in December and is expected to be sentenced in Bronx Criminal Court later this year.
