Winter Forecast Released: See What's In Store For New York
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration revealed what it expects for this winter.

NEW YORK CITY – Winter promises to be warmer than normal in New York this year, according to long range forecasts released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Thanks in part to an ongoing La Niña weather pattern, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center — a division of the National Weather Service — is predicting above average temperatures and an average amount of precipitation across the Northeast.

The forecast mirrors that for most of the U.S. NOAA expects warmer, drier conditions across many of the Southern states, with only the central north — extending from the Pacific Northwest, across the Northern Plains and Great Lakes, and into the Ohio Valley — having cooler, wetter conditions.
NOAA also plans to closely monitor persistent drought conditions through the winter months. Right now, more than 45 percent of the continental United States is experiencing drought. The Northeast is not expected to be affected.
